EthiKink was devised to fill the gap in the fetishwear market for vegan and sustainable garments. BDSM and other kinks often bring to mind garments made of leather (the creation of which requires abhorrent animal cruelty) and PVC (a product with bad connotations for the environment and wildlife). To create a deviant aesthetic without compromising on ethics, the creation of EthiKink required primary research into fetish culture through interviewing professionals and hobbyists alike, alongside reviewing literature, to create functionality for bondage and Dominance within its garments. Furthermore, sustainable and cruelty free fabrics such as cork leather, Pinatex, Hemp, purpose-grown Kombucha Leather, and decommissioned firehose were sourced and utilised to create dramatic corseted silhouettes.
