My collection was initially inspired by a camping road trip to Pisa with my son. I have told our story through my garments and conveyed our thoughts and feelings. The biggest shock for me was the surreal feeling of expecting Italy to be ornate with opulence but instead finding an overwhelming sense of decay. This is portrayed in my garments in a minimalist aesthetic, creating the silhouettes using the simple shapes from my tent to distort the figure: conveying the idea that it’s not what you would expect. The use of black mirrors the timelessness of the architectural heritage of Italy.
