A Learning Support Centre for people suffering with Dyslexia
My final year project is about designing for people with Dyslexia, which is one of the most common learning difficulties in the UK. The awareness is somewhat non-existent, and I wanted to create a space that these individuals can attend to receive help and guidance no matter what age they are. I wanted the design to feel like a community, a ‘home from home’ where they can feel encouraged to be themselves and not be ashamed of their learning struggles. Parkhead is one of the most deprived areas in Glasgow and having a newly designed and constructed, modernised building to provide to their needs, can boast the community around and create awareness for the dyslexic community around the UK.
