My final project was focused on a more emotional and personal response to the design process. Using influence from the philosophy of wabi-sabi and a trip to the Isle of Harris for final year images and inspiration to create a project that expresses design work as a more artisanal craft, rather than something to be mass produced. A personal ethos that textile design for me is an overall sensory experience that needs to capture the story being told via the fabrics and the craft and skills that go into the experimentation and formation within woven textile design. Mixing dyes, creating mixed textures, experimenting with structures and finishing techniques to create unique pieces that capture an artform of woven textiles.
