H.O.M.E is a personalized collection based around the idea of reminiscing and portraying a place I call home, Dubai, in an unseen light. Through this collection you will see vibrant colours mixed with bold silhouettes and beautiful prints, because that is what Dubai is to me, Vibrant, Bold and Beautiful.
This is the first look in my collection. Each of the looks in this collection represent home, which to me is Dubai, through this look in particular I aim to showcase the mix of modern yet still culturalized side of Dubai, the modern aspect is reflected through the corset top element, taking inspiration from Arabic cultural clothes with kaftans and abayas, the cape sleeves are a modernized translation of that.
Through this mismatched asymmetrical look, I wanted to convey a sense of seen vs unseen Dubai. Often seen as a busy city with record breaking skyscrapers, Dubai is also seen as a simple, safe and comfort for many, through this garment on particular, I aim to depict a mere comparison of the two sides of Dubai.
With opportunities and inspirations, Dubai offers a great horizon of artistic inspiration, Arabesque prints, Islamic art, calligraphy all pave the way for beautiful designs, which is what I aim to convey through this look. the ruffled elements and gold print is a direct significance to Dubai.
